Mindset, or attitude, has long been recognised by doctors as being an important factor in any patients recovery. There have been many cases documented of a patient with a more life threatening illness and a strong attitude, belief or will to live, recovering, whereas a patient with a similar but less advanced condition simply seems to “lay down and die”.
In fact there is now much documented research that has supported the hypothesis that the right mindset can make all the difference between recovery and death.
Likewise, there is now much scientific evidence that our mindset can affect our immune systems, which of course is the body’s main line of defence against any disease. Stress, a particularly detrimental mindset, is now a very well recognised factor in everything from susceptibility to the common cold, through to life threatening conditions such as heart disease and cancer.
So, isn’t it logical to draw the conclusion that mindset could also be a key to recovery from any form of cancer? And maybe it doesn’t even require much of a leap of faith to start asking the question as to whether it could also be a factor in the development of tumours, or any other diseases in the first place.
The articles listed below discuss a variety of viewpoints that touch on this hypothesis, often questioning the whole approach of “fighting cancer” with such weapons as chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, instead of supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself with a combination of correct mindset and nutrition.
PS Perhaps the most dangerous “mindset” of our current society is that our medical profession has all the answers, for as we all know, there is a baffling lack of progress in developing cures despite the huge amounts of research being done.
As we also know, the instance of cancer and such diseases is on the increase, interestingly paralleled with the increase in the stress and negativity in our daily lives. Is this parallel a co-incidence, or is it a clue as to why these diseases are becoming so prevalent. Could this be a clue as to how to reign in the escalation of these diseases or even more importantly an important factor in overcoming them once they have taken hold of us?
So please, if your instinct is to view the role of “mindset” as frivolous, at least peruse some of these articles and see whether in fact, a change of mindset may in fact be a healthy decision to make.
Healing Cancer: What Does It Mean?
Frequently, the interaction between illness and treatment is described as a battle or a war. If we hold with that analogy, then cancer can best be described as a civil war. A cancerous cell operates as...
